How much is postage? How are the postage costs calculated?
Firstly, there are three types of postage locations - UK, Europe and Rest of the World, which determines the shipping rate to use. For UK orders, these are sent via First Class Recorded Delivery. This provides fast shipping and extra peace of mind. If you want to receive your order via a different postage method, that's fine - just drop me a line first and I'm sure something can be arranged.
Orders placed from outside the UK are sent via Royal Mail's airmail service. If you wish to have your order sent via a different service, again, just let me know.
As you add items to your shopping basket, you'll see the shipping costs appear on the left side of the screen, under the category menu.
I live outside the UK. Can I still order from your site?
Yes. I post to pretty much any country. As you add items to your shopping basket, the postage costs will update on the left side of the screen so you can see what it will cost before placing your order.
I've added a number of items to my shopping basket but when I go through the checkout, no postage options are displayed. Why?
This is because the total weight of your order exceeds 2kg. Orders over this weight can vary hugely in cost to post so if you wish to order a large number of items, it's worth using the Contact Page so I can not only quote you an accurate postage cost but also give you a little discount where possible too.
Are the games on the site new or second-hand?
As this site is primarily focused on retro games, at least 95% of the items on the site are pre-owned. I do occasionally have some unused items and some of the modern games are in mint condition but if you are still in any doubt, be sure to read the item description and check the photograph and if you're still unsure, drop me a line and I can provide extra detail and photos if required.
What if I'm not happy with something I've ordered from your site?
I try my best to ensure that everyone who buys something from ConsoleMAD is happy with their purchase, but on that rare occasion where something has gone wrong I'll do my best to rectify the problem - just let me know via the Contact Page.
How do I know if an imported game will work on my console?
If you're not sure whether a game will work on your console, it's always best to check before ordering. Firstly, refer to my Import Gaming guides (these guides are written from a UK gamer perspective) and if you're still unsure, just drop me a line.
Are all the games on your site in stock?
Yes. Everything you see in the shop part of the site is for sale and available. If someone places an order for something the shopping cart software automatically deducts it from the site stock to prevent someone else ordering it. So,k at any one time, there may be the occasional item showing as unavailable as that means I'm currently processing an order for it - everything else though I have to hand.
Do you do trades? Do you buy games?
Yes. If you have any games you wish to trade in (or just plain get rid of!), I'm always willing to listen. Just drop me a line with the stuff you have and how much you'd ideally like for it and hopefully we can arrange a deal.
I placed an order/sent an email but haven't received anything back yet. How long should it take?
If you've placed an order, you'll get an automated email back from the shopping cart software. This should take no more than a few minutes to arrive so if you've not had anything back after maybe 30 minutes, you may want to check any spam folders that you have to see if your order confirmation is in there.
If you've sent an email enquiry, I always aim to reply to it within 24 hours. Often it's much quicker than this but it depends on whether I'm able to check my emails from where I am. Again though, if you've heard nothing, it's worth checking your spam folder or submitting another enquiry in case you entered an incorrect address first time around.
