Here's some advice for mame: never mame a cab. Or buy one off ebay because they all suck and go on www.jammaplus.com and #jamma+ IRC channel on irc.enterthegame.com

I agree, nothing compares to the real thing , I only use Mame for Splatterhouse as it was only on a couple of really old rare systems.

Mame is great! Clearly not as good as the real thing but for those of us that simply can't afford a massive Space Harrier/Outrun/Street Fighter Alpha 2 machine/Whatever it's the next best thing!

And without it, I'd never have played E.S.P rade, Guwange or 19xx!

I might get an arcade machine when i move to my new house but i dunno which game to have, i recon it to be a fighting game though. Oh BTW im gettin one no matter the price lol i know they are expensive, but its worth it

The main expense would be the initial cabinet but once you've got that (Jamma compatible ideally) you could just then buy the carts separately, some of which are pretty cheap.

I never knew that they used carts inside them
in that case i may get hold of the inside electronics and build the casing myself

If you look at this auction you'll get a better idea. You basically just replace the board with a different one every time you want a different game in there. I'd quite like one myself but don't have any room!

By any chance is the Jamma the best arcde system around cos at ?150 i think that will be a thing ill add to my new bedroom when i move house soon :biggrin:

Jamma is more of a standard really - if you own a jamma cab and you're browsing for games, you can just look for jamma compatible carts and it's much easier as it's the most common standard it seems.

You could get yourself a supergun if like me you dont have much space :o i think thats gonna be my project for this year ! i've got all the cables i need from ebay JAMMA connector etc... all i need now is a motherboard probably a 2 or 4 slot mvs board then i'll have a go at making a descent casing for it all . i'll post the pics if i ever complete it !!!

I've seen a couple of nice consolized MVS kits that look very impressive but cost a small fortune. Would be nice to save a bit on the games and go the MVS route. I think I'll have to get a Supergun one day though when I have the space.

yea i seen a few on ebay one was a real nice 2 slot mvs i think that went for a few hunderd pounds ! Thats why i thought of just building one up myself well having a go !
