Sega Saturn
After being in development for 2 years, the Sega Saturn was released in Japan in November 1994 and in September 1995 in the US. The Europe release followed soon after.

Sega gambled with the Saturn against its upcoming rival, the Sony Playstation, by releasing the console four months earlier than initially planned, to steal Sony's thunder. However, this backfired as it gave Sony time to slash $100 off the price to undercut the Saturn. With Sony's expert marketing, the Saturn was soundly trounced.

Despite being a difficult machine to develop for, the Saturn saw some great arcade ports, such as Sega Rally and Daytona USA.

Although the success of the Saturn was rather limited in the West, it fared much better in Japan and there are some great games that only saw a release in Japan, such the sought-after Radiant Silvergun and other classics, such as Soukyugurentai, Battle Garegga and the Magical Drop series.
